Job Title: Lab Assistant IJob Description
The Lab Assistant will play a crucial role in a high-volume production environment, contributing significantly to clinical lab science. The position requires working from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Responsibilities
+ Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
+ Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
+ Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information into the system.
+ Ensure all lab equipment is functioning correctly and perform minor maintenance tasks.
+ Troubleshoot specimen-related issues.
+ Replenish test bench supplies as necessary.
+ Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
+ Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
+ Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
Essential Skills
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred.
+ Comfortable with handling biological specimens.
+ Ability to accurately identify specimens.
+ Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
+ High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
+ Must pass a standardized color blindness test.
+ Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Work Environment
The work environment is a high-volume production setting that requires handling biological specimens. The role demands attention to detail, prioritization skills, and the ability to multitask. The lab operates during night hours from Tuesday to Saturday, requiring the ability to work overnight shifts. Safety and quality standards are paramount, and the team strives to maintain a clean and safe working space. The position may also require sitting or standing for extended periods.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.70 - $20.70/hr.
