Our Enterprise Desktop Support Section is currently seeking two Information Technology Associates (ITA) within the Benefits & Financial Desktop Support Unit and Administration & Member Desktop Support Unit to provide hardware and software support within the organization. These positions have the same duties and responsibilities; the only difference is the enterprise divisions they support.

The Information Technology Services Branch (ITSB) provides most, if not all, of the technology services that support the CalPERS lines of business. The organization includes a data center, programming maintenance and development staff, business development including business relations, business process improvement and project and portfolio management. ITSB is committed to providing the technical leadership, increased business alignment, talent, transparency, and accountability in support of all the CalPERS strategic business objectives.

Under the direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II of the Enterprise Desktop Support Section, the ITA’s duties include but are not limited to:
  • Provide hardware and software support ensuring that computer and peripheral equipment is in full working order.
  • Deploy images and move and setup computer equipment as necessary (up to 50 lbs).
  • Install, update, and test a variety of software products.
  • Assist customers to ensure positive resolution of incidents and requests.
  • Assist senior staff on projects including but not limited to hardware and software refreshes.
Unit-Specific Focus:
  • The Benefits & Financial Desktop Support Unit serves divisions focused on benefits administration, facilities, and financial operations.
  • The Administration & Member Desktop Support Unit supports divisions responsible for administrative functions and member services.

  • A+ Certification or comparable on the job training
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve PC and laptop hardware issues, install hardware including hard drives, memory, monitors, keyboards, mice, and USB drives
  • Ability to install software and troubleshoot issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all staff levels
  • Proven customer service skills
