Job Summary:

Northstar California is seeking a dynamic and experienced  Transportation Manager to lead all aspects of our resort transportation operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and guest-focused operation of our shuttle, dial a ride and charter services. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, regulatory compliance knowledge, and a passion for team development and service excellence.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of a high-volume transportation department, including resort shuttles, on-demand services, and special event logistics. Ensure timely and reliable transportation services for guests and employees across resort properties.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise a team of up to 60 seasonal and year-round drivers. Foster a positive, safe, and productive work environment with a focus on retention and employee engagement.
  • Ensure all operations meet or exceed local, state, and federal transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, CHP, OSHA). Maintain accurate and timely documentation for licensing, vehicle inspections, incident reporting, and driver qualifications.
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Maintenance to ensure timely repairs, preventive maintenance, and vehicle availability. Monitor fuel usage, cleanliness, and vehicle performance standards.
  • Drive a culture of high-quality guest service. Resolve escalated service issues promptly and professionally. Support service recovery and implement process improvements based on guest feedback.
  • Develop and manage department budgets, including labor and fuel costs. Contribute to strategic planning, capital requests, and seasonal ramp-up/down operations.
  • Partner with Resort Operations, Security, and Sales teams to align transportation support with broader resort needs. Serve as the primary liaison for transportation-related projects and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of transportation/logistics experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory or management role (resort, hospitality, or municipal transit preferred).
  • Strong understanding of DOT/DISA regulations and driver compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation management software.
  • CDL with passenger endorsement (preferred or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak periods.

The expected pay range is $68,640 - $85,000 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
