Technical Writer
South Metro | Contract to Hire | Hybrid | $26 - 30/hr

Konik is partnering with a growing defense engineering company in the south metro area to hire a Technical Writer. This Interactive Technical Writing role will focus on developing and maintaining Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) for complex defense and engineering products. Our client fosters a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a flexible, hybrid work schedule. Technical Writer Responsibilities:

• Develop, edit, and format technical documentation using authoring tools such as Microsoft Word, Arbortext, and Notepad++ to create Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM).
• Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define technical specifications and develop accurate, user-friendly documentation.
• Write and integrate detailed technical content, including system descriptions, controls and indicators, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Incorporate technical illustrations, including drawings, diagrams, charts, and photographs, to enhance documentation clarity.

Technical Writer Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in technical industries such as defense, aerospace, or manufacturing will be considered
• 3+ years of technical writing experience is preferred but would consider less 
• Familiarity with S1000D and XML-based tools such as Arbortext or similar software is preferred.
• Experience working with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) and XML is ideal
• Must be able to obtain a secret clearance which requires US Citizenship
• This client falls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
• We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Only candidates with permanent work authorization in the U.S. will be considered.
