Special Needs Nanny for Teen, Ithaca, NY

A loving family is seeking a dedicated and compassionate special needs nanny for their 15-year-old autistic daughter. This is a long-term position requiring someone who is patient, engaging, and comfortable learning to use a communication board.

Start date: April 2025 (flexible for the right candidate)

Schedule:

• Monday – Friday (Split Shift, 30 hours per week)
  • Morning: 7:45 AM – 8:45 AM (assist with morning routine and school bus drop-off)
  • Afternoon: 4:30 PM – 8:00/9:00 PM (school pick-up, activities, and evening care)

Compensation:

• $30-$35 per hour, based on experience

Benefit s:

• 3-weeks vacation
• Federal holidays off (paid)
• 2-4 sick days

Responsibilities:

• Assist with morning routine (getting dressed, breakfast, and bus drop-off)
• Be present in the afternoons when she returns from school
• Provide engaging, fun, and spontaneous activities
• Drive her to Pilates and yoga classes
• Support communication using her board
• Ensure a safe and structured environment while fostering independence
• Light-housekeeping & cooking

Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with autistic individuals or special needs caregiving
• A patient, fun-loving, and creative personality
• A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle
• Comfortable working independently while the parent works from home (separate office space)
• Provide 3-5 professional references
• Must have US work Authorization
