ABOUT THE ROLE
Growing carrier doing both domestic and internal life insurance business seeks senior life underwriting professional. Succession planning career opportunity with the ability to move into a Chief Underwriter position.
The Senior Life Underwriter is responsible for evaluating life insurance applications for both the domestic and international markets.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze application and information focusing on medical and financial condition and other standard factors, to determine acceptability of risks in accordance.
Provide service to clients and cross departmental staff to successfully resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and producers.
Interpret Medical Information Bureau (MIB) codes and report MIB codes.
Refer cases to reinsurers over automatic treaty limit.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in life insurance underwriting with a strong understanding of medical and financial aspects of underwriting.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of underwriting philosophy.
EKG interpretation certified.
Currently working with an approval authority up to 250K.
An understanding of life insurance back-office operations ideal.
