Position:   Senior GraphQL Developer

Requirements

We are seeking a Senior GraphQL Developer with strong backend development experience to join a high-impact team in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in GraphQL , Java/Spring Boot , AWS , and SQL . Prior experience working at Freddie Mac and availability to work onsite in McLean, VA are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient GraphQL APIs to support front-end applications.
  

• Implement and enhance backend services using Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
  

• Integrate with AWS services for deployment, configuration, and operations.
  

• Work closely with front-end and full-stack developers to define API contracts and ensure smooth data flows.
  

• Write efficient SQL queries and ensure data consistency and performance across services.
  

• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and deployment automation.
  

• Troubleshoot production issues and support operational excellence.
  

Mandatory Technical Skills:

• GraphQL:
  

  • Schema design, resolvers, query/mutation optimization, performance tuning.
    

  • Deep understanding of GraphQL vs REST.
    

• Java / Spring Boot:
  

  • Backend API development, dependency injection, Spring modules (Web, Security, JPA).
    

• AWS:
  

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services like EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, etc.
    

  • Understanding of AWS IAM roles, VPCs, and deployment architecture.
    

• SQL:
  

  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
    

  • Relational database knowledge (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
    

Optional / Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Snowflake:
  

  • Working knowledge of Snowflake for querying and data integration.
    

• Jenkins:
  

  • CI/CD pipeline configuration and job automation experience.
    

Candidate Profile:

• Experience Level: 8+ years overall, with 5+ years of Java backend development and 2+ years of GraphQL .
  

• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and API security .
  

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  

• Comfortable working in fast-paced, client-facing environments .
  

• Previous Freddie Mac experience or familiarity with the financial domain is a strong plus.
  

Work Environment:

• Work Mode: Onsite – 5 days a week in McLean, VA (No remote/hybrid flexibility)
