Job Summary: The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the manufacturing facility. Providing effective communication with employees and customers at all levels within diverse backgrounds is important. Organizational skills are key for overseeing the scheduling of production and handling of shipping responsibilities. Ensures that compliance is being followed within all State, Federal, and OSHA Employment laws. In addition, ensuring that all company policies and procedures are practiced properly.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manages the safety of the facility and equipment, and assures a safe working environment for all employees. Ensures that the employees are following all safety and OSHA regulations as well as performing safety checks and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains effective leadership to enhance profitability by following cost saving guidelines and provide proper record keeping to ensure that inventory levels are accurate.
  • Schedules inbound materials, labor, production, and finished product deliveries based on sales demands. Confirms deliveries with customers on a regular basis.
  • Manages the quality of the products being produced, distributed, and sold to our customers while abiding by industry standards.
  • Maintains the plant’s profits by managing the safety of the environment, the quality of the products, and the levels of inventory in order to control and prevent losses while maintaining efficient levels of product as needed.
  • Ensuring that labor costs are within guidelines and cost control measures are in place to meet profitability based on company goals.
  • Supervises office staff, plant workers and vehicle drivers. Oversee all plant and production work is being completed and that personnel are performing activities in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Effectively communicates inter-departmentally with the sales force, customers, and the corporate office along with other plant locations as needed. Communicates operational issues to management on a timely basis. Communication should always present in a positive, cooperative, and professional manner.
  • Hire and evaluate staff including recruitment, provide any necessary/required employee training, conducts annual performance appraisals, and administers the progressive disciplinary process when needed.
  • Operation of machinery as needed including laminators, forklifts, bandsaws and balers.
  • Perform mechanical and pneumatic trouble shooting on machinery.
  • Working with freight companies and processes such as LTL and TL carriers.
  • Compliant with Federal DOT Regulations and accordance with company driver policies and procedures.
  • Conducting daily and weekly tests to ensure compliance with UL and Home Innovation Research Labs standards.
  • Will be required to perform all other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Education And Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or four year degree in related area preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience preferably within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with freight companies such as LTL and TL desired.
  • Familiarity with DOT Regulations helpful.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus but not required

Job Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Basic computer knowledge in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Data entry experience needed.
  • Forklift experience is a plus but will train if needed.
  • Excellent customer service, negotiation skills, and ability to deal with escalated situations.
