We are looking for a Travel Pharmacy Tech Allied for a great Travel allied job in Sheridan, WY.

This Pharmacy Tech Travel allied job pays for 40 hours a week for 13 weeks.

JOB SUMMARY Must be able top do Chemo Meds

Works under the supervision of the Welch Cancer Center Manager, Pharmacy Supervisor or Registered Pharmacist, and according to the standard procedures, compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving prescriptions from physicians or other qualified prescribers; types labels, prepares and files drug charge slips and performs various other technical duties of the pharmacy. Must be available for sick leave and PTO coverage. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Reviews all outpatients billing on a daily basis.

Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices..

Performs patient charging functions:

When required, types labels for medications, as well as IV solutions in a neat and accurate manner.

Accurately enters into the computer all patient charges.

Accurately refills Pyxis machines and maintains proper inventory levels.

IV preparation:

Correct drug and dose selected.

Correct type and volume of diluent used.

Correct and aseptic techniques used for preparing IV medication.

IV hood is properly cleaned.

Sequencing is properly done.

All IV preparations are prepared in a timely manner.

Assures adequate stock and supplies are available in IV room to perform next day’s activities.

Disposal of outdated IVs and proper logging.

Successful completion of the aseptic technique certification checklist.

Ordering and inventory control:

Responsible for maintaining all paperwork involved with the ordering process.

Orders drugs from the wholesaler daily and maintains proper inventory levels on all pharmaceuticals.

Researches and explores all possible sources for unavailable pharmaceuticals.

Orders office supplies for the department as needed.

Keeps all pharmacy personnel informed of back-ordered or unavailable pharmaceuticals.

Performs all direct drug orders when required, reorders pre-packaging supplies as needed.

Regularly unpacks and stores supplies, verifies items received against invoices, checks for price discrepancies, checks off invoices and passes them on to the Manager assures all contract items are charged at contract amount, investigates shorts and searches for alternative source.

Utilizes generic equivalents whenever available.

Routinely handles returns of unused patient medication and returns to proper storage area.

Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner at all times.

At regular intervals, conducts inspections of areas where pharmacy items are stocked. Removes any outdated drugs at that time.

Organizes outdated or overstocked medications to ship back to the manufacturer or wholesaler for credit on a regular basis. Assures proper credit is received from the wholesalers and maintains a file on credit memos from the wholesalers.

Answers the telephone and refers all questions to medication orders, drug information, poison information or other clinical matters to the on-duty Pharmacist.

Demonstrates competency on a consistent basis in regards to weighing and measuring of liquids, powders, tablets or capsules for unit dosing purposes.

Maintains updated ordering information concerning phone numbers, location, etc. of different pharmaceutical companies for medications not ordered from the wholesaler.

Maintains proper records associated with prepackaging.

Maintains all stock level and order stickers for all formulary items.

Assures the proper amount of chemo medication is ordered and on hand for next week’s chemo regimes.

Return of goods for credit:

Checks for outdates every month, both within the pharmacy department and outside the department.

Responsible for maintaining a file on all goods sent in for credit, and assuring that proper credit is received.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education, Experience & License High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required.

Certified Pharmacy Technician with Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy

Completion of Aseptic Technique, Hazardous Medication and Chemotherapy Annual Competencies

Maintain 15 hours of continuing education annually Additional Skills Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Good interpersonal skills needed to work with staff and physicians

Strong written and verbal skills

Basic computer knowledge

Hand/eye coordination, fine and gross motor skills

Able to prioritize multiple details simultaneously, able to troubleshoot problems, analytical, interpretive skills

Requires higher level of short- and long-term mental faculties accompanied by long- and short-term memory

Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.

Must have WY Pharmacy Tech license Must be able to mix Chemo drugs M-F, Welch is closed during major holidays (New Years, Memorial, July 4th, Labor, Thanksgiving, Christmas), therefore, during these weeks the traveler would not be guaranteed 40 hours.
