Position Description

We are seeking skilled welders to work in a rewarding environment that supports the safety of our armed forces. Candidates should possess the ability to read and understand complex drawings and work instructions, as well as produce high-quality welds. Responsibilities include:

• Loading and unloading parts onto weld tables and fixtures using hand tools, ratchets, or air tools.
• Checking parts against quality specifications.
• Troubleshooting problems and recommending or implementing corrective actions.
• Using hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts to move parts, materials, containers, and fixtures.
• Completing paperwork for work orders, labor, time reporting, quality records, and related documentation.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area.
• Training others and working collaboratively in a team environment.
• Performing other duties as necessary and appropriate for the role.

Skills Required

• Ability to successfully pass weld qualifications in both steel and aluminum.
• Knowledge of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and the use of weld gauges.
• Proficiency in shop math, blueprint reading, and dimension calculations.
• Understanding work orders, machine controls, settings, fixtures, and tool requirements with the ability to make necessary adjustments.
• Skill in holding and maneuvering a weld torch and operating foot and hand controls.
• Ability to operate a scissor lift (27-inch step-up, 15-foot working height).
• Capability to lift 32 pounds and apply 32 pounds of torque to ratchets.
• Experience operating hoists, pallet jacks, and forklifts (forklift operation requires certification and a 14-inch step-up).

Experience Required

• Minimum of 5 years of welding experience in GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) of either aluminum or carbon steel.

Education Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Technical training in welding from a vocational school, accredited technical college, or similar institution (e.g., Hobart Weld School, Arclabs).

$22 - $25 / hr
