Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the analysis of biological specimens in the laboratory. Responsibilities include collecting specimens (such as venipuncture or hazardous/infectious materials for culture), preparing reagents, organizing daily workloads, performing quality control, and appraising results to distinguish normal and abnormal values. The role requires performing calculations, preparing and distributing reports (written, LIS, and verbal), and troubleshooting methodologies. Additionally, the technician will perform preventative maintenance of instruments, maintain daily and monthly workload inventory, and follow all safety policies and procedures

Job Details:

• Job Title: Laboratory - Med Lab Tech (MLT)/MT/ AMT/Medical Technologist
• Location: Gladwin, MI
• Duration: 13 Weeks
• Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36-hour guarantee
• Shift Notes:
• 7 on, 7 off schedule
• 4 days of 10-hour shifts (8:00 PM - 6:30 AM) followed by 3 days of 12-hour shifts (8:00 PM - 8:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture and handling hazardous materials.
• Prepare reagents and organize daily tasks.
• Perform quality control procedures and assess abnormal results.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
• Train and mentor new technologists.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of reagents and materials.
• Enter data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols.

Requirements:

• Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role required.
• Experience with Sunquest and Epic, Ortho blood bank, Siemens coag and urines, Sysmex hematology is required.
• Certification:
• ASCP or AMT certification required.
• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
