Job Description

1Resource Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician for a plastic manufacturing company located in Northwest Houston to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all plant machinery, equipment, physical structures, and related building maintenance needs.

 Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities 

•Ensure all work areas and tools are in safe working condition

. •Assist management in developing, implementing, and maintaining a preventative maintenance program for all building and plant equipment.

 •Respond as quickly as possible to trouble calls from managers, supervisors, and operators.

 •Dismantle defective machines and equipment, and install new or repaired parts. 

• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery as needed.
• Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction, and discuss machine operation vibrations with supervisors or other maintenance technicians to diagnose problem or repair machines.

•Install and troubleshoot electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, including PLC “programmable logic controls”. 

•Layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. 

•Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

 •Operate and repair forklifts, and electric and manual pallet jacks.

 •Maintain general building operation environment including A/C, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building contents. •Occasionally will be “on call” or required to work odd hours to complete repair on equipment in emergencies. Qualifications and Experience •Associates degree or equivalent work experience in an industrial, manufacturing environment.

1st Shift

Pay $22 a hour

Requirements

•Minimum four (4) years experience working as a generalist in an industrial, manufacturing environment. 

•Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

 •Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred. 

•Ability to work overtime when needed. Desired Skills and Traits

 •Technical licenses in mechanical and/or electrical preferred.

 •Bi-lingual in Spanish helpful.

 •Ability to handle multiple functions and being pulled several directions at one time. •Familiarity with lock out/tag out and other industrial maintenance programs helpful. 

•Knowledge of plastic manufacturing helpful. •Position requires the physical ability to climb, crawl, kneel, stoop, walk, stand, sit; use hands, fingers, arms, legs, and overall body to repair equipment. Occasionally work may occur in high, precarious places. 

•Must regularly communicate orally. 

•Vision is needed to see and repair equipment and move around the plant and office areas. 

•Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, and unusually high and low temperatures.

 •The ability to lift and move a minimum of 30 lbs. or more.
