Position Description

The individual in this position is responsible for the maintenance and/or repair of agency owned/leased equipment, buildings, and grounds. The employee in this position may be responsible for supervising the work of Maintenance Workers.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Operations/Compliance Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervises agency-employed maintenance and contract repair personnel, as assigned.
  2. With supervisory approval, orders all supplies, equipment, and repairs necessary for the maintenance of agency property.
  3. Makes repairs to buildings as requested or needed including, but not limited to:
    • Minor electrical repairs - replacing light switches, ballasts, fuses, etc.
    • Minor plumbing repairs - repairing faucets, stopping leaks, replacing valves or pipes.
    • Minor woodwork - repairing doors, windows, drywall, etc.
  4. Maintains and repairs agency-owned equipment.
  5. If landscape maintenance is not contracted out to a third party, incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of agency grounds including mowing, trimming, weeding, and yard trash disposal.
  6. Required to maintain TCHS agency vehicles regarding assuring agency vehicles are regularly maintained, kept in safe operating condition and meet CARF standards for safe vehicle operation.
  7. Responsible for securing the proper fire/sprinkler inspections required for DCF licensure and CARF compliance each year at each agency facility where Behavioral Health services are provided. 
  8. Planning, prioritizing, assigning, supervising, reviewing, and participating in all tasks related to facility maintenance.
  9. Developing methods and schedules for facility maintenance.
  10. Responsibly handling emergency situations or after-hours calls for repair and maintenance
  11. Taking part in developing maintenance policies and standards for an organization.
  12. Coordinating training sessions in facility maintenance, safety procedures, and methods.
  13. Planning daily tasks and delegating them to Maintenance Technicians and other professionals.
  14. Maintaining preventive maintenance standards for an organization’s facilities and equipment.
  15. Routinely inspecting various elements of buildings and grounds, like elevators, fire alarms, security cameras and sprinkler systems
  16. Preforms any other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Training and Experience

  • Graduation from a standard high school and four (4) years of experience in residential property management setting including the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment.
  • Knowledge and skills related to the use of hand, power, and bench tools is necessary.
  • Must possess solid organization and computer skills, and a professional demeanor. 
  • An equivalency diploma issued by a state department of education or by the United States Armed Forces Institute, or a qualifying score on the Division of Personnel Educational Attainment Comparison Test may be substituted for a high school diploma.
