Job Description

Purpose and Scope:

Drives gas- or diesel-powered trucks. Pick up, transport and deliver parts, material, equipment and components to pre-determined destinations. Vehicles may weigh up to 4 tons. Drives vehicles both on and off government installations and in light to heavy traffic conditions. Supervised by Operations Manager or Truck Driver Heavy Lead. Receives daily work assignments from the Operations Manager and Truck Driver Heavy Lead (TDHL).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drives trucks up to 14,000 lbs. to destination for pick-up and delivery based on instructions or directions received and by using maps.
  • Inspects truck for defects before and after trips.
  • Monitors vehicle during operation and reports maintenance/repair requirements to Dispatcher.
  • Secures loads being transported to ensure safe and undamaged arrival at destination.
  • Reports and receives directions via Work Cellular Phone.
  • Assists in loading and unloading of material transported.
  • Must have a valid operator license.
    • Must receive an AMENTUM/Concentra DOT Medical Examiners Certificate for no less than one year.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance adjustments to truck.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum six months’ general experience.
  • Minimum six months’ specific experience will demonstrate the knowledge required to fulfil requirements of position.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • May substitute experience for education at the rate of one year of specific experience for one year of high school.
  • Must be able to obtain a license to use any equipment for which a current license is not held within 30 days of selection.
  • Must be able to obtain and a staff like access clearance after onboarding.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • Employees will earn H&W dollars per eligible hour (including vacation and holiday up to 40 hours/week). H&W monies are used to offset the employer’s cost of benefits the employee elects into and/or utilizes. Any remaining health and welfare monies after all applicable deductions would be deposited to the employee’s 401(k) account on a quarterly basis.
