Job Description

BCT is in search of a Global Quality Assurance Director responsible for leading and developing comprehensive quality policies and systems to support manufacturing and customer satisfaction across multiple business units. This is an onsite, direct-hire position requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills to address quality issues effectively, particularly in LED lighting, electro-mechanical assemblies, and PCBA manufacturing/testing.

SALARY OFFERED: Up to $185K depending on the candidates' experience, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality Leadership and Strategy

  • Return to an operational excellence culture, focused on customer metrics/scorecards as the true north, re-inspiring customers to have confidence in Heads Up Technologies companies as best-in-class quality.
  • Develop & deliver clear, professional presentations to executive leadership, customers & internal teams.
  • Provide monthly reports on active projects, quality concerns & corrective actions with actionable insights.
  • Manage the Quality program including an incumbent Quality Director, providing guidance or implementing performance improvement measures as necessary.
  • Lead and mentor the global quality team, including Quality Engineers and Quality Control Inspectors.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, FAA (PAH, PMA, TSO), and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Establish and maintain proactive strategies for identifying and resolving top-of-mind issues including LED lighting and PCBA manufacturing issues.

Technical and Process Management

  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, ensuring consistent product performance.
  • Identify, analyze, and correct manufacturing defects through effective root cause analysis and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with design and production engineering on quality concerns, ensuring direct and effective solutions rather than deferring responsibility.
  • Oversee calibration control, inspection processes, and tooling procedures to maintain product consistency and reliability.

Customer and Supplier Engagement

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns, demonstrating exceptional communication skills to instill confidence and control.
  • Deliver clear, positive messaging to customers when issues arise, ensuring they feel assured that concerns are being addressed effectively.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

Audits and Compliance

  • Oversee internal and external quality audits, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of quality activities, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee supplier audits, source inspections, and quality assessments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME, BSEE, or related discipline required).
  • Previous Quality Assurance leadership experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing or improving the performance of direct reports, including difficult personnel decisions if necessary.
  • Proven experience managing quality processes for FAA certification (PAH, PMA, TSO) and AS9100 standards.
  • Strong customer communication skills with the ability to convey confidence and clarity during challenging situations.
  • Experience with relevant quality management software.
  • Ability to work on-site in Addison, TX with approximately 10% travel required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in LED lighting quality control and PCBA manufacturing defect analysis and correction preferred.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) designation is preferred.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification is preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP and quality management modules preferred.
