Job Summary

The Electrical Commissioning Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the successful startup and operation of our advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities. You will lead and manage the electrical commissioning team, focusing on the testing and validation of complex electrical systems critical to wafer fabrication. This includes power distribution systems, emergency power systems, lighting control systems, and specialized equipment powering our cutting-edge manufacturing processes. This role demands a highly skilled and experienced electrical engineer with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities..

 

Job Description

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of electrical commissioning engineers and technicians.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning strategies, philosophies, and schedules specifically for all electrical systems within the facility.
  • Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for team members.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams, vendors, and other discipline commissioning managers (mechanical, process, etc.) to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of detailed commissioning procedures for all electrical systems, including:
    • High-voltage substations and switchgear
    • Medium-voltage distribution systems
    • Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and emergency power generation
    • Building management systems (BMS) and electrical control systems
    • Grounding and lightning protection systems
    • Specialized equipment power and control systems
  • Ensure strict adherence to Micron's electrical safety protocols, industry standards (e.g., NEC), and quality requirements throughout the commissioning process.
  • Manage and coordinate vendor activities related to electrical equipment installation, startup, and performance testing.
  • Conduct thorough system walk-downs, punch list generation, and system handovers from construction to operations teams.
  • Expertly troubleshoot complex electrical issues and drive timely resolution of commissioning challenges.
  • Maintain meticulous records of electrical commissioning activities, test results, and as-built documentation.
  • Prepare and deliver regular progress reports to project leadership, highlighting key achievements, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices for electrical systems.
  • Contribute to the development and management of the overall commissioning budget, with specific focus on electrical systems.
  • Identify and procure necessary electrical commissioning tools, test equipment, and materials.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve electrical commissioning processes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

 

Skills Required

  • Proven experience in the commissioning and startup of complex electrical systems within industrial facilities, with a strong preference for semiconductor manufacturing, data centers, or other high-tech environments.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with:
    • Electrical power distribution systems (high, medium, and low voltage)
    • Emergency power systems (generators, UPS)
    • Power quality analysis and mitigation
    • Protective relaying and control systems
    • Electrical safety standards and practices
    • National Electrical Code (NEC)
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate technical teams.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
    • Proven ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Experience with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP) is a plus
