Job Title: Education Program Investigator

Duration: 6+ Months (Possible Extension)
We are seeking an experienced Education Program Investigator to support the Problem Resolution System (PRS), which addresses complaints related to students' educational and legal rights, with a focus on state and federal special education laws. This role involves conducting impartial investigations under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B and Massachusetts special education regulations. The Investigator will gather and analyze evidence, assess compliance, and prepare well-reasoned written decisions, including corrective actions where necessary.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct impartial investigations into special education complaints following IDEA and Massachusetts state regulations.
Collect and review documentation and other evidence to assess compliance.
Draft comprehensive, fact-based decisions including findings, legal analysis, and conclusions.
Recommend and document corrective actions when violations are identified.
Ensure that all written decisions meet federal and state legal standards.
Incorporate feedback from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and finalize decisions accordingly.
Maintain confidential, accurate case records and logs.
Adhere to PRS procedures and internal investigation protocols.
Minimum 3 years of experience with IDEA and special education law and regulations.
At least 2 years conducting impartial investigations and preparing written determinations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills (minimum 3 years).
Experience handling sensitive or confidential information in accordance with legal and ethical standards (minimum 2 years).
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
Experience in a state or federal education compliance setting.
Familiarity with PRS or similar complaint resolution systems.
Background in education law, educational administration, or special education advocacy.
