Job Title: Construction Inspector – Airfield/Aviation

Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Inspector – Airfield to join our team, primarily serving projects throughout the Southwest Florida region. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting and reviewing a wide range of airfield construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in airfield or transportation construction and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform on-site inspections of construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
Monitor contractor and subcontractor work to ensure adherence to plans, schedules, and safety protocols.
Document construction progress, quality assurance measures, and field testing results.
Prepare and maintain detailed daily inspection reports (IDRs) and status updates for stakeholders, including owners and funding agencies.
Participate in field meetings and inspections related to airfield improvements and permitting.
Measure quantities and support the preparation of quantity verification (CQV) reports for payment and change orders.
Identify, record, and report deviations from contract documents, proposing corrective actions where appropriate.
Maintain clear and professional communication with project teams, contractors, and clients regarding project status and compliance issues.
Promote and maintain a safe work environment on all project sites.
Support flexible work schedules including day/night shifts and weekends as needed to meet project demands.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training preferred.
Minimum of 3+ years of experience inspecting airport or transportation construction projects.
Familiarity with inspection of asphalt paving, concrete work, earthwork, airfield lighting, signals, and structural components.
Knowledge of FAA and DOT construction methods, standards, and specifications preferred.
Ability to interpret complex airfield construction plans and specifications.
Strong understanding of construction means and methods, safety practices, and engineering principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.
Strong mathematical skills for calculating distances, areas, and volumes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with codes, regulations, and best practices related to airport operations and construction compliance.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clients, team members, and contractors.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential client information.
Attention to detail with high standards for documentation and reporting accuracy.
Licensure & Requirements:
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to obtain necessary security clearances for airside access and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) clearance.
