Job Description

An excellent client in Florida is hiring a Commercial Underwriting Counsel. The candidate MUST LIVE in Florida, or be wiling to relocate. The underwriting counsel will be responsible for handling primarily high-dollar commercial transactions and answering a high volume of underwriting inquiries from company title examiners and Florida title agents. Must have strong knowledge of commercial underwriting in Florida.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* A minimum of 10 years' experience as a commercial underwriting attorney or equivalent experience.

* Licensed to practice law in the State of Florida or will become Authorized House Counsel with the Florida Bar within 90 days of acceptance of job offer.

* Experience in handling large commercial transactions, including but not limited to underwriting various facets of creation of condominium developments and assessing construction lien risk preferred.

* Prior experience in a national business unit or national commercial services office a plus.

* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to assess risk and address problems with a solution-focused attitude and an eye toward practicality.

* Exceptional customer service attitude and people skills in working with title agents.

* Willingness to work with other Underwriting Counsel in a team environment.

* Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.

* Strong and accurate attention to detail.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

* Must have an understanding of title operations, underwriting and state guidelines.
* College degree and Juris Doctorate Degree required.
* 10+ years of experience in the commercial real estate title industry is required.
* Member of Florida Bar.
