Description/Job Summary:

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time  Chief Engineer  for a facility engineering program to support a federal Agency in the Reston, Va area. The position will support Agency-related activities, including assisting the On-site Project Manager with day-to-day operations in the local FMMS and will be responsible for conducting random quality control checks on equipment and periodic maintenance (PM) jobs.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:
  • Daily Checks with Building Engineers and Technicians
  • Weekly Reports
  • Time Sheet Review
  • Time Exception Review
  • Overtime
  • PTO
  • Screen, hire, supervise, and coordinate training activities for engineering staff.
  • Provide technical support, job delegation, and project management to engineering team.
  • Assist with reducing operating expenses while maintaining and enhancing the quality of the services provided.
  • Assist with generating scope for /RFA/RFP.
  • Assist in project management.
  • Outline a seamless customer impact.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed.
  • Provide on time updates to Client.
  • Assist with construction projects
  • Review construction drawings to ensure standards are followed.
  • Collaborate with GC's on impacts to existing customers, FLS impairments, warranty work, etc.
  • Oversee commissioning of new equipment.
  • Vendor contract review and management.
  • Monitor and control energy efficiency.
  • Assist with generating SOP's
  • Ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Ensure team development goals are outlined and met.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Strong experience in updating, operating and maintaining a facility FMMS system
  • FMMS experience should include knowledge of entering work orders, running reports, updating and operating the facilities system to ensure the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly Operation & maintenance and Custodial duties. Duties include, but are not limited to, setting up new users, removing users, and updating the FMMS System to include any new requirements.
  • Help develop and incorporate the PM inspection program plan, schedule, track equipment, and create a report via FMMS.

Required Skills:

  • The Chief Engineer shall possess at least five years (within the past seven years) of experience in the management and supervision of building mechanical operations and maintenance for high rise buildings.
  • The Candidate shall be very familiar with Maximo, Microsoft programs, commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BAS

Preferred Skills:

  • Good administrative skills, communication and ability to prioritize work orders.

Required Experience:

  • Five (5) years of management experience serving in roles of facilities maintenance management, quality control support, and FMMS operations.
  • Federal Government experience
  • Experience in resource management, schedule management, and contracts management for federal contracts, experience in maintenance, and reliability management with the industrial equipment or research facilities.
  • Knowledge of FMMS, FMMS KPI creation, Microsoft Office

Preferred Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ management experience serving in roles of facilities maintenance administration support and FMMS operations.
  • Experience in resource management, schedule management, and contract management for federal contracts. experience in maintenance management, maintenance and reliability management with industrial equipment or research facilities.
  • Knowledge of FMMS, FMMS KPI creation, Microsoft Office

Required Education:

  • High school diploma
