What you’ll do: 

As the Chief Development Officer (CDO) you’ll be a visionary and strategic leader, serving as a key partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors. In this role you’ll drive the growth and sustainability of Habitat for Humanity-Spokane by leading fundraising, communications, volunteer management, and community relations. You will develop and execute high-impact revenue strategies, foster a thriving culture of philanthropy, and elevate Habitat’s brand presence in the region. With a fundraising target exceeding $5 million annually, you’ll play a critical role in advancing the organization’s mission to expand access to affordable homeownership opportunities for individuals and families.

  • Lead and manage all aspects of fund development, providing inspiring leadership while ensuring the execution of a robust and effective strategy.
  • Cultivate key donor relationships, lead transformational fundraising efforts, and strengthen Habitat’s philanthropic partnerships.
  • Ensure fundraising and engagement efforts align with the organization’s long-term vision and impact.
  • Develop and implement bold, comprehensive fundraising strategies that drive revenue growth and financial sustainability.
  • Spearhead major gifts, capital campaigns, corporate sponsorships, planned giving, and grant funding efforts.
  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of a high-impact development program, including donor acquisition, retention, and stewardship.
  • Regularly analyze and report fundraising performance to leadership and key stakeholders, refining strategies as needed.
  • Develop a high-impact marketing and communications strategy that enhances brand awareness and engagement.
  • Serve as a dynamic spokesperson and thought leader, advocating for affordable housing solutions and community development.
  • Ensure unified, compelling messaging across all communications and promotional channels to inspire donors and stakeholders.


Who you are:

  • CFRE certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive fundraising leadership experience, including major gifts and multi-year campaigns.
  • 4+ years of executive-level management experience in nonprofit development, marketing, or philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated success in securing transformational 5-7 figure gifts and building lasting donor relationships.
  • Expertise in corporate partnerships, grant development, and planned giving strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of community engagement, marketing, and donor cultivation best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, marketing, public relations, business, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CRMs, Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge, and marketing software.
  • Exceptional public speaking and storytelling abilities, with a passion for advocacy.
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences with authenticity, professionalism, and emotional intelligence.

The compensation information below is provided in compliance with all applicable disclosure requirements. Base Pay Range: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs.
