Business Development Manager (Structural Steel Construction)
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for expanding the company's market presence and securing new business opportunities in the structural steel fabrication and erection industry. The ideal candidate will drive business growth by identifying emerging market trends, developing strategies for market penetration, and building lasting relationships with key decision-makers. This role will require a consultative sales approach, focusing on both new client acquisition and expanding opportunities with existing clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute business development strategies to identify and secure new clients and markets within the structural steel fabrication and erection sectors.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers across client organizations, from initial contact to long-term partnerships.
Prospect and capture new business opportunities, especially in emerging industries and markets, contributing to incremental growth and a diversified portfolio.
Promote the company's value proposition by identifying key opportunities and selling tailored solutions based on client needs.
Provide insight into market trends, competitor activities, and industry changes. Use this data to inform internal strategies and drive growth.
Manage the entire business development process, from prospecting and lead qualification to closing new business. Develop and execute strategies for engaging both new and existing clients.
Utilize reporting tools to track customer buying trends, performance, and business development efforts. Develop plans to qualify, engage, and convert prospects into clients.
Stay up-to-date on industry developments, product improvements, and best practices to ensure the company is competitive and aligned with industry standards.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or related roles within the AISC Steel Fabrication, Erection, or construction industries.
Strong understanding of construction processes, steel fabrication, and erection procedures. Experience with steel-related general contractors is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and build relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Ability to travel across the East Coast/Mid-Atlantic region to meet clients, prospects, and attend industry events as needed.
A well-established network of industry contacts and a proven track record in business development within the structural steel or construction industry is preferred, but not required.
